St John’s Church has held fortnightly lunch-time concerts since 1975. Concerts are held on alternate Thursdays throughout most of the year with breaks at Christmas, Easter and the summer. Please check this calendar for the next few dates (and programmes, when available).

Light refreshments are available from 11.45am and the concert begins at 12.30pm. There is usually an interval and the concert finishes at around 1.45pm.

Admission is free but there is a collection on the way out to cover expenses. Please come and join us!

Palm Sunday procession and Eucharist
Mar 25 @ 9:45 am – 11:15 am

We meet by Katy’s statue at the junction of St Ann’s Road and Station Road carrying palm branches and palm crosses to celebrate Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey. The people shouted his praises but very soon they were demanding his death. Inside St. John’s we will hear a dramatised version of these events during our Eucharist. Please join us.

Messy Church
Mar 25 @ 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Messy Church is church for all ages with a difference. Join us for crafts, songs, stories, food, and to explore the Christian faith together! Messy Church is a free event, but donations are welcome. We meet on the last Sunday of every month except August and December.

Welcome Centre
Mar 28 @ 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Drop in and join us for a free cup of tea or coffee (every Wednesday and Saturday, 12-3).

Maundy Thursday Communion
Mar 29 @ 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm

“Maundy” comes from the Latin for “commandment” (like “mandate”). At the Last Supper (on the night before his crucifixion on Good Friday) Jesus told his followers to love each other, and seek to serve rather than to rule. He demonstrated this by washing his followers’ feet. At this service we will commemorate this when the Vicar will wash the feet of some members of the congregation. We will then do the other thing that Jesus did at the Last Supper by taking and sharing bread and wine as his body and blood as a reminder of him. Please join us for this solemn celebration.

Good Friday walk of witness
Mar 30 @ 10:30 am – 11:45 am

Central Harrow church members walk with a large wooden cross from Harrow Baptist Church in College Road through the streets to St John’s, where we finish with a short service.

Good Friday meditation
Mar 30 @ 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Join us to pray about the events of Good Friday and what it means for us today. When this service finishes, there will be an opportunity to remain in the church in silence until 3 pm.

Stainer’s Crucifixion

Easter Vigil
Mar 31 @ 8:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Jesus died on Good Friday. On Saturday his body lay in a tomb. We do not know the exact time that he rose from the dead, but on Easter Eve we will gather in a darkened church at 8.30 pm to hear readings from the Old Testament about God’s covenant with the people of Israel and how they were liberated from slavery in Egypt. We then begin to celebrate our own liberation from sin and death by Jesus’s death and resurrection. We end our worship by renewing the promises we made when we were baptised, in preparation for Easter Communion tomorrow.

Easter Day Festival Eucharist
Apr 1 @ 10:00 am – 11:15 am

Come and join us for our Eucharist to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
