Many people today understand the church as a building. However, the word “church” comes from the Greek word ekklesia which is defined as “an assembly” or “called-out ones.” The root meaning of “church” is therefore not that of a building, but of people.
The community of people here at St John’s has been blessed with a beautiful building. It is a Grade II listed building. Many parts of the building are rich with history and meaning. From St. Michael’s Chapel to our War Memorials, we are grateful for the beautiful place in which we worship. Below is a selection of images of our church building.
